The Jan. 7th question: Helplessness: that dull, sick feeling of not being the one at the reins. When did you last feel like that –- and what did you do about it?
I am by no means a control freak or dictator, so not being at the reins doesn’t bother me on a daily basis. However, I have had several bouts with the afore mentioned sick feeling watching someone else hold the reins. It wasn’t because they were doing different than I would. I freely aknowledge that there are several ways to do something and they’re all right. No, this feeling come from watching someone flounder, or do things that are unnecessary to accomplish a task or goal. The hardest part of self control is watching some one do it wrong, and you have to let them keep going as long as they don’t cross a line that becomes unsafe or hazardous to themselves, others or equipment.
